Based on the bizarre true story of James Joyce’s 1917 Zurich production of The Importance of Being Earnest, and celebrated as one of Tom Stoppard’s greatest comedies, Travesties puts Joyce, Vladimir Lenin and Tristan Tzara together.
Directed by Jennifer Sarah Dean, and brought to you by Bloomsday in Melbourne. Jennifer was appointed the Creative Director of the Melbourne Shakespeare Company in 2016 and has since directed seven sold-out productions across Melbourne, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night and Romeo and Juliet. She co-directed the Australian national tour of Ghost Stories (2016); The Haunting at The Athenaeum Theatre (2017); and Festen at the Rippon Lea Estate Ballroom (2018). This is Jennifer’s second production for Bloomsday, following last year’s acclaimed HOLY COW!
