Atticus has drawn players from Melbourne’s leading and emerging new music ensembles (Golden Fur, Quiver, Arcko) to create a string quartet dedicated to the highest quality performance of the world’s finest new music. This new ensemble seeks to create a forum for the creation and performance of challenging new work and rarely performed seminal works, through collaboration, amplification and the exploration of the timbral and physical possibilities of the string quartet.

This debut concert will feature string quartets from the past two decades including the world premiere of Shaun Rigney’s The Circular Ruins, recently recorded for ABC Broadcast. It will also feature the Australian premiere of the fragile ‘Hell’ by Liza Lim and the mesmerising Skin & Bone from New York based Australian, Wally Gunn and rarely heard in Australia, Helmut Lachenmann’s Streichquartette No.3 ‘Grido’.

One night only!
