Unapologetically present, Jemima’s oil paintings explore the needlessly insistent sexualisation of the assumed woman’s form.  They are inspired by women and non binary folk’s experiences with how they have been treated based on their bodies. Jemima’s aim is to spark conversations about body acceptance and provide fat people a chance to see their bodies represented in a fine art capacity. Painting these figures is extremely relevant as fatphobia is ever present in society. There is constant discrimination to deal with when you are fat. Hence, Jemima is regaining control over the perception of the naked body. They create an accepting space for women and non binary folk to feel not only comfortable but also celebrated.
