Join Janno’s Corona Girl Project!

We’re so looking forward to Janno McLaughlin’s upcoming exhibition Making Nonsense at fortyfivedownstairs later this year (dates to be announced soon!).

Janno has been incredibly busy on many projects these last few months, including this exhibition, with Rose Lang as curator.

Within her artistic response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Janno has created a Corona Girl Project. Everyone and anyone is invited to make, sew, paint, knit, or scribble reflections, anxieties, hope, feelings, loss, humour, defiance (anything!!!) on a fabric patch 30 x 30cm. Send your patch to Janno who will then sew it into an ever expanding outer dress for a Corona Girl doll; being, sculpture, installation.

The Corona Girl represents a coming together from across the globe and a metaphoric holding of hands, giving love and support to one another in this unsettling time of COVID-19.  Corona Girl is all of us – multi national, colour, race, gender – everyone is included and welcome.

If you would like to take part please send in a patch by the end of July to:

Janno McLaughlin
PO Box 746

Australia

You will receive a special handmade heart patch in return from Janno. We can’t wait to see the exhibition, and the Corona Girl, in the fortyfivedownstairs galleries!
