MSFW: Parallel Tensions at fortyfivedownstairs
Monday 3 September, 2012
Cancel all hot dates! Set the DVD player to record all those favourite shows! Change your after-work gym sessions to morning workouts! It’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, and you know what that means: dressing up in your finest to mix with the style set and take in the catwalk extravaganzas every evening at the Melbourne Town Hall, starting tomorrow.
MSFW is a commitment not undertaken lightly. There’s hours of agonising over outfits, hoofing it in high heels and elbowing to touch up lippy in crowded bathrooms to come. But if you don’t have the dedication to go the distance, don’t despair – you can get in on some of the action inside of a lunch hour.
fortyfivedownstairs is hosting Parallel Tensions, an exhibition of the latest work from emerging labels including Jason Hewitt, Christina Exie and Oracles assembled by stylist Connel Chiang and Moth Design.
Not only do you get to admire the work of up and coming new designers up close, there’s no need to queue for tickets, no need to dress up, and it’s free. Best of all, you don’t have to air kiss anyone. Now that sounds like our kind of event.
Parallel Tensions is at fortyfivedownstairs, 45 Flinders Lane, city, daily until September 8.
