Flesh and Bone Pozible Campaign
KAGE is the internationally award-winning partnership of Kate Denborough and Gerard Van Dyck. They have created technically rigorous and visually striking dance theatre for over 15 years.

What are they doing now?
We are creating a new and thought-provoking production called Flesh and Bone. This new work explores gender equality and transformation in a modern-day relationship. Costumes have been created by fashion designer extraordinaire Lisa Gorman (please click here to find out more).
It will be presented as part of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program and the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival Umbrella Events in March 2013 (which is fast approaching!).
What will your money do?
Your generosity will help us to realise our vision for Flesh and Bone. Your contribution will enable us to complete the work to its full potential.
Of course, we have travelled down all our usual pathways on the journey to create this new work. We have secured some degree of government funding, philanthropic support, sponsorship and private donations, but to make this project the very best we can – WE STILL NEED $3,000.
With your help, we can increase the scope of this innovative and emotional experience. There will be more dance, more theatre and more creativity!
Become part of the KAGE family! Join us in creating work that discusses real issues and touches real people. You will reap some great rewards in return!
The Show
Flesh and Bone is a show that will make you laugh, gasp and give you lots to talk about. It’s a study of a couple and relationships in our modern world. It looks at intimacy and closeness and the idea of attraction between the sexes. It’s a duet, and this is the first time Kate has appeared on stage in 8 years (as she has been focusing on directing). But now, she is back and the roles are reversed as Kate and Gerard flip gender stereotypes on their head!
There is beautiful dancing, strength and passion. There are no words, but instead stunning illusions and a remarkable visual design and aesthetic. Paul Jackson our lighting designer and Kelly Ryall our composer join Lisa Gorman – what a team!
While we have been creating the work, we have been mentored by a group of young people who have been sharing their thoughts on gender politics with us. The group is led by Clementine Ford (the self described writer and troublemaker) – check her out on Twitter@clementine_ford and hear her on Tumblr here). There’s no doubt it is a complex world out there but hopefully this show will provide you with a window of escape and an unforgettable night!
Also, for one night only we have teamed up with Cumulus Inc. to provide a very special dinner and show event. We will take the most difficult recipe (a modern day relationship) and make it effortless yet still super tasty.
And finally, we have some impressive Ambassadors for both the work and for KAGE in Lisa Gorman and Eddie Perfect.
We had better get back to our rehearsals now but with your support…it’s going to be AWESOME.
Thanks in Advance
KATE & GERARD
