With a stage set comprised of just a roll of paper that acts as a canvas, actor Caroline Lee gets to express herself through words and pictures simultaneously. She plays the faithful wife who turns a blind eye to her husband’s increasing infidelities in an effort to remember him as the man she fell in love with. Anyone who has ever wondered why a partner stays with a cheater will leak sympathy into their sleeve as we witness the sacrifices Lee’s character has made to build up their joint business – not to mention the sacrifices to her identity as she raises the children. Of course, something has to give.

Waking up Dead is based on a true story about a Melbourne businessman who was murdered through his forays into the swinging scene. The award-winning team behind the production are Caroline Lee, as the sole cast member; sound designer Ian Moorhead; writer Trudy Hellier; director Susie Dee and artist Callum Morton.
