Daniel Keene returns to fortyfivedownstairs with The Curtain, written with his characteristically sharp ear for poetry in the dialogue of ordinary people.
Ada Munroe rents her two spare rooms to Leon and Francis, two single, aging men who seem to have come to the end of their road. The small country town where they live is slowly dying; local businesses are closing, familiar faces disappearing. Their narrowing futures seem inescapable. But one night something unexpected happens that shifts how Ada sees her life. And now everything must change.
Directed by Beng Oh and featuring Milijana Čančar, Gil Tucker and Paul Weingott, this premiere production is a funny and fraught autumnal exploration of human foible and friendships.
