Shake ‘n’ Blake – The Sonnets of Innocence and Experience.

Blending the Good Works of Williams Shakespeare and Blake into a Lesson in Love in all its Aspects: Attraction and Repulsion, Comfort and Despair, Heaven and Hell. Shake ‘n’ Blake is an evocative configuration of nine of Shakespeare’s sonnets played as Innocence and nine as Experience – interspersed with eight sonnets performed as original songs and commentary from Blake’s poetry and Shakespeare’s characters displayed as Wisdom.

Innocence – the impulsive and idealised early encounters of Love.

Experience – the weary worldliness of later Love.

Wisdom – a synthesis, a Lesson.

Playing the Lover with a little help from Genesis (the Book) and Elvis (the King).

Performed by Steve Gome accompanied by Silas James under the influence of Wayne Pearn.

Steve Gome is a freelance performer whose work since graduating from the VCA includes collaborations with James McCaughey and Associates, Melbourne Playback Theatre, Baggage Productions, Salamanca Theatre Company and Wax Studios.
