…a return to canvas, stripping back the language of Douglas’ painting.
This series of new work by Tina Douglas is a continuation of exhibitions from 2012 and 2013 that looked at the grid as a structure within her work.
This exhibition of works from 2014 – 2015 is a return to canvas, stripping back the language of Douglas’ painting.
Using the grid as a tool for sectioning the picture plane into a series of fields, Douglas explores the relationship, or tension created between her intuitive fields and the imposed rule of the grid.
She has moved towards a long and narrow canvas format, looking at how this reinforces the grid structure and further directs the picture plane.
holding pattern will be an exhibition of large paintings which will coincide with an exhibition of works on paper at Tina Douglas’ studio in Fitzroy.
Tina Douglas lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. She has exhibited widely in both solo and group exhibitions throughout Australia.
Douglas has work in collections including Bendigo Art Gallery, La Trobe University Collection, Southern Cross Network Collection and private collections.
