…What do our minds recall and our hearts remember?
What do we remember – are our memories reliable and true?
Could the remnants, those pieces left behind, be the most meaningful? Pain, joy or beauty for ashes?
These images are fragments of memories; broken and abstract, viewed through the window of my internal room.
What do our minds recall and our hearts remember?
Brenton Hill is a South Australian artist, who works out of his studio in the Adelaide Hills.
He attended The South Australian School of Art, Central School of Art and TAFE SA in Adelaide, South Australia.
For over 35 years his art practice worked in tandem with being a graphic designer.
The ‘Act of Painting’ is the impetus behind his work – drawings becoming paintings – paintings become drawings.
The unsaid, a suggestion.
The relationship between a memory, an emotion, a thought – disruption, hesitation and maybe silence – evolving and manifesting itself on the surface of the work.
To feel a forgotten memory.
“Art is not always about pretty things
It’s about who we are
What happened to us
How our lives are affected
And how we can be healed”.
