A previous mentor once likened the art world to boxing; using it as a metaphor for many of its machinations. Over the last twenty years it’s been a recurring theme in my work. This work, originally titled Verses on Versus and exhibited during my residency at fortyfivedownstairs in 2017, was reworked during 2021’s earlier lockdown. Intended for my exhibition at fortyfivedownstairs in 2022, I have selected it for HERE again, given the resilience we have all had to show to endure yet another lockdown.
