Interrupted Landscape merges urban iconography with pastoral contemplation, relocating chain-link wire fencing from its natural industrial context to open plains of rolling grass. The viewer is invited to ponder why a fence would find itself in such a context, how it might arrive there, and what its purpose is. The interplay between freedom and restriction correlates to this recent lockdown period, which has been creatively fruitful for both artists. For Gerrard and Chu, constraint has inspired a new sense of freedom and dedication.
