acrylic on linen
Australian mountain ash frame
80 x 80cm
This artwork is my most recent painting during the challenging time of being in the NSW/Victorian border bubble.
These new restrictions have seen me separated from my muse, The Australian Alpine High Country. It’s like my second home and where I spend MANY weekends staying on the mountain gathering inspiration. Capturing this landscape so close to my doorstep, ‘so near, yet so far away’ saw me push deeper into my process, a way to gather resilience and to grow in my creative practice. I was able to paint with the freedom I can’t feel when on the mountain, capturing the distinctive high county colour palette in a much softer light reflecting how I’m distanced from this magnificent landscape, as if looking on from afar.
