This year I’ve experienced a “lockdown within lockdown” working towards my exhibition. So lockdown has ‘worked’ for me, giving a sense of purpose. With no distractions, I’ve been able to concentrate and be disciplined, enjoying the daily change to the painting. However, I realise not everyone is lucky to have this sense of control as we live life remotely. It’s disconcerting to see the cracks appearing: despair, frustration and tiredness. The tall, narrow format of Enclosure refers to having no room to move, and the awareness of our lives being controlled by an invisible and scary virus that has eroded our way of life.
