The exploration of these memories coupled with day-to-day happenings has brought an expressive freedom to Ali’s work. Using flora and fauna as a catalyst\, this fresh perspective has seen her creating a personal iconography through the use of oil paint. \nAlways returning to pure expression through line\, Ali finds figurative shape and definition through negative spaces\, conveying a strong sense of motion and urgency in every movement. This results in a loose mapping of Ali’s past and present. \nWorking to a large scale\, Ali’s process is intuitive and fast paced. Drawing on a distinctive colour palette\, she weaves memory and line over controlled layers of paint. Gaining inspiration from the characteristics of the oil\, the artist is anything but sparing. Manipulating the medium to suit her expressive style\, she relishes in the artistic process\, drawing on every characteristic of the paint. \nAli describes her artistic process as an author writing a book. \n“I always feel as if I am working on the edge of something\, with my sole aim being to give life to the painting. The painting takes me where it wants to go” [/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Artist’s Bio” tab_id=”1518320329651-b769a1a3-29e6905c-b0b31dcb-e5de”][vc_column_text]Predominantly influenced by her love of landscapes and brave colour combinations\, British born Ali McNabney-Stevens has quickly become one of the most collectible emerging artists within Australia\, whilst simultaneously attracting worldwide attention for her art practice. \nHaving earned her Honours degree in Design and History of Art from Edinburgh College of Art\, with further fine art studies at London’s prestigious St Martin’s\, Ali consistently displays her pedigree with an impressive body of original and limited edition abstract works that demonstrate versatility and individuality. \nAs a feature artist in many leading interior editorial spreads\, international blogs\, and of late regular guest appearances on primetime National TVC – it is fair to say that Ali continues to make her mark on the art world\, whilst working on new and exciting collaborations with other well-known creatives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Growing up in the same neighbourhood. Studied at three different art schools. Founding members of the legendary and original alternative band Rock Granite and the Profiles. \nThese three have at last agreed to exhibit their work in the same place at the same time. And it’s big. \nThe fierce individualism these three artists have demonstrated over the decades comes together in this show. A display of mutual respect and affection for each other’s work is evident. Such disparate approaches come together in WHAT JUST HAPPENED. \n150 years of shared experiences.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Artist Biographies” tab_id=”1451285630325-09def419-bb74b1db-6de17681-4228″][vc_column_text]Ben Fennessy \n“I’ve been painting for 50 years; think I’m getting the hang of it.” \nBorn in Melbourne. At fourteen\, Ben took art lessons from Bill Coleman – George Bell Art School. He won a scholarship to study painting and drawing at the National Gallery Art School. Ben has lived\, painted and taught art in Western Victoria for 40 years. \n  \nWilliam White \nAfter more than 30 years in advertising studios of major agencies\, William White has been liberated. \nWilliam is no longer tied to the ‘Client Brief’. He now allows himself the freedom to interpret and transform mundane objects and events into pieces that display his unique humour and gravitas in equal measure. \n  \nPeter Ivor Wilson \nA Duchampian sensibility executed with gestural muscularity. \nPeter has not deviated from his chosen artistic path in close to 50 years\, constantly developing and refining his work. These works are a manifestation of all that has gone before\, and a kernel of what is to come. Peter has exhibited extensively over the years and taken part in many group and solo shows\, and is represented in many private collections.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row]
