These works are not family friendly and seek to explore some of the darker pieces from Shakespeare’s repertoire. Under the direction of Ayesha Gibson and with Evelyn Krape in the title role\, King Lear is a raw and relevant exploration of one of the greatest tragedies of all time. \nDownload the season program HERE. \nSupported by The City of Melbourne.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Cast and Creatives” tab_id=”1616120101905-142c70e7-c909″][vc_column_text]Producer: Michael Mack\nArtistic Director/Marketing: Jennifer Dean\nDirector:  Ayesha Gibson\nSet Design: Hayley James\nStage Manager: Teri Steer\nLighting Design: Alex Blackwell\nSound Design: Ben Keene\nCostume Design:  Aislinn Naughton\nFight Director: John Reed \nKing Lear: Evelyn Krape\nCordelia: Isabella Ferrer\nGoneril: Claire Nicholls\nRegan: Annabelle Tudor\nFrance: John Reed\nEdmund: Matthew Connell\nFool: Don Bridges\nCornwall\, Gentleman: Johnathan Peck\nEdgar: Kayla Hamill\nAlbany: Augustin Tchantcho\nKent: Kevin Hopkins\nGloucester: Anthea Davis\nOswald:Andrew Dang \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ticket Prices and Concessions” tab_id=”1452941768731-94b426f3-57530201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f16d74-3d9f”][vc_column_text]\nTicket Prices:\nWatch at home: $20 \n  \n  \nNO BOOKING FEE SURCHARGE[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It is visceral\, physiological\, often beyond language. This performance is a shared re-presentation of the psychic chaos. \nAs she began to write\, past memories of assaults filled the page – a compilation of small and more significant violations by men\, woven into the fabric of her womanhood. These rememberings have also found expression in The Trauma Project\, arriving like postcards from an earlier existence\, calling for action. \nEngaging the body and her lived experience as a site for interrogating personal and cultural trauma\, this poetic non-linear work explores the schism of self\, the intrusive memories that characterise such overwhelming experience\, perspective\, and the politics of gendered violence. \nCreative development of The Trauma Project was supported by La Mama Explorations in 2017. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Cast and Creatives” tab_id=”1452941644640-19a0de81-e87a0201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f1b9a5-eceb”][vc_column_text]Writer/Director: Elizabeth Walley \nAssociate Director: Alec Gilbert \nPerformers: Ian Ferrington\, Isabella Gilbert\, Lauren Steiner\, Elizabeth Walley \nVisual Dramaturgy/Production Design: Dagmara Gieysztor \nChoreography: Isabella Gilbert \nSound Design: Samuel Kreusler and Rachel Lewindon \nLighting Design: David Silvester \nStage Manager: Dylan Lines \nAssistant Stage Manager: Cosima Gilbert \nPublicity: Cameron Lukey[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ticket Prices and Concessions” tab_id=”1452941768731-94b426f3-57530201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f1b9a5-eceb”][vc_column_text]\nTicket Prices:\nPreview: $30\nFull: $45\nConcession: $35\nGroup 6+: $35 \nLivestream at home: $25 (one performance only on Saturday 27 March) \nConcessions:\nPensioners/Full-time students/MEAA members/JobKeeper & JobSeeker recipients \n  \nNO BOOKING FEE SURCHARGE[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Livestream” tab_id=”1615252515361-b4938f26-0853″][vc_column_text]Saturday 27 March\, 7.30pm AEDT (one show only!) \nYour Zoom registration link to access the live-streamed performance will be included in a pre-event email\, sent from one day before the event.\n\nPlease note: If you are unable to watch the live-streamed performance on the night\, you will be able to gain access to the recording of the livestream a few days after the event. Breathing new life into the history of women and literature\, this production features four performers as aspects of Woolf’s mind in conversation with herself and the audience. \nToday\, with campaigns such as Me Too\, Time’s Up and NOW Australia\, A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf shines a light on our history with astounding relevance to contemporary society. \n  \nSentient Theatre is a new collective of contemporary theatre practitioners with the goal of bringing important humanitarian narratives to the stage. Their inaugural piece\, A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf\, premiered at La Mama Courthouse in 2016 to overwhelmingly positive responses\, igniting their desire to continue sharing this important story. Based on a series of lectures that gently interrogates the history of women and fiction\, A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf carries striking relevance to contemporary conversations about gender disparity: a crucial topic to share.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Cast and Creatives” tab_id=”1452941644640-19a0de81-e87a0201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f19a13-b2b5″][vc_column_text]Adapted and Directed by Peta Hanrahan \nPerformers: Anthea Davis\, Marissa O’Reilly\, Anna Kennedy & Jackson Trickett \nLighting Design: Paul Lim \nSet Design: Dagmara Gieysztor \nSound Design: David Thomson \nProducer: Anna Kennedy \nStage & Production Management: Tennessee Mynott-Rudland \nPublicity: Sassy Red PR[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ticket Prices and Concessions” tab_id=”1452941768731-94b426f3-57530201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f19a13-b2b5″][vc_column_text]\nTicket Prices:\nPreview: $30\nFull: $43\nSenior: $38\nConcession: $35\nGroup 10+: $30 \nSchool Groups 10+: $30 with complimentary teacher ticket for every 10 tickets purchased\n(please contact katy@fortyfivedownstairs.com or call venue at 9662 9966 for more information) \nConcessions:\nPensioners/Full-time students/MEAA members \n  \nNO BOOKING FEE SURCHARGE[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_empty_space]Buy Tickets [/vc_column][/vc_row]

A broken man\, about to leave his wife. A damaged woman\, struggling to stay intact. Broken entwines the stories of three complex lives as they unfold on a single fateful night in the heart of the Northern Territory’s desert country. \nWinner of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Drama\, the Northern Territory Literary Award for Best Script and the Victorian Prize for Literature\, Mary Anne Butler’s poetic\, evocative play merges three complex lives to explore the idea of isolation; of each other\, of place\, of circumstance. \nPoetic\, visceral and extremely moving\, this haunting story of resilience and survival takes you into the heart of its characters and the Australian landscape\, offering up a devastatingly fresh look at our national identity. \nWrestling with matters of chance\, choice\, hope and fate\, it poses the question: When you find yourself empty\, how do you start again? \nThis Victorian premiere will feature Lyall Brooks\, Sophie Ross and Naomi Rukavina under the direction of Susie Dee. \n  \n‘This is exquisite writing. It’s immediate. It’s lean. It’s poetic. It’s visceral. It takes you right into the heart of the experiences it describes’ Andrew Bovell Playwright \n  \n \n  \nBroken is supported by both the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts\, its arts funding and advisory and the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria. \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Cast and Creatives” tab_id=”1452941644640-19a0de81-e87a0201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f14904-2972″][vc_column_text]Director: Susie Dee   \nCast: Lyall Brooks\, Sophie Ross & Naomi Rukavina \nDesigner: Marg Horwell \nLighting: Andy Turner \nComposition & Sound Design: Ian Moorhead \nAssistant Director: Julian Dibley-Hall \nProduction & Stage Manager: Cassandra Fumi \nProducer: Adam Fawcett[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ticket Prices and Concessions” tab_id=”1452941768731-94b426f3-57530201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f14904-2972″][vc_column_text]\nTicket Prices:\nPreview: $30\nFull: $39\nConcession: $34\nGroup 6+: $34 \nConcessions:\nPensioners/Full-time students/MEAA members \n  \nNO BOOKING FEE SURCHARGE[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_empty_space]Buy Tickets [/vc_column][/vc_row]
