Thus was born the first Salon des Refusés and the seed of Impressionism was planted. Using 5 famous paintings as focal points\, this program explores French poetry and music inspired by them through songs by Debussy\, Fauré\, Duparc and duets by Chausson. Looking to future generations of painters and composers\, we pay tribute to Poulenc with a performance of his monumental song cycle Le Travail du peintre.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Artists” tab_id=”1452941644640-19a0de81-e87a0201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f15ce4-cf52″][vc_column_text]\nSongmakers Australia\nMerlyn Quaife AM\, soprano\nNicholas Dinopoulos\, bass-baritone\nAndrea Katz\, piano\n \nUnique in the musical landscape of Australia\, Songmakers Australia brings together some of the country’s leading singers and instrumentalists in a diverse repertoire comprising some of the pinnacles of all chamber music. \nUnder the artistic patronage of Graham Johnson\, founding director of the acclaimed London-based Songmakers Almanac\, pianist Andrea Katz teams with soprano Merlyn Quaife\, mezzo-soprano Christina Wilson\, tenor Brenton Spiteri and bass-baritone Nicholas Dinopoulos in inspired programs that feature a dynamic interplay of song and chamber music.Celebrating their 10th anniversary\, the ensemble continues their pursuit for musical excellence and the promotion of international and Australian vocal chamber music. After making her debut in China with the China broadcast symphony orchestra at age of 16\, playing the Walton Viola concerto\, she moved to London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. At age of 22\, she moved to the states and began her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. Her performances has been recorded on Linn records and Naxos. In 2018\, she participated the prestigious “Chamber Music Connects the World” at Kronberg\, where she collaborated with Andries Schiff\, Steve Isserlis\, and Christian Tetzlaff. Other artists that she has collaborated with are Laurence Lesser\, Miriam Fried\, Paul Biss\, Soovin Kim\, Midori Goto\, and Maxim Vengrov. \nA native of Beijing\, China\, Wenhong joint the faculty of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2020\, after studying with Kim Kashkashian at the New England Conservatory of Music as a doctoral candidate. She devotes herself to both solo and chamber music playing\, and with the great passion on delivering the music to different communities\, she is an artist of the “music for food” organization in Boston\, and have been on tour with Midori Goto to Nepal and Japan being part of the “music sharing” program. Her primary mentors includes Su Zhen\, Martin Outram\, and Kim Kashkashian. \nWilliam Vyvyan Murray has carved a fascinating career as a violist and composer. His passion for music led him from his birth city of Melbourne/Naarm to study and work in Berlin\, Paris\, Lugano\, Cremona and Amsterdam. At the UdK\, CNSM and CSI he worked extensively with Nobuko Imai\, Bruno Giuranna\, Wilfried Strehle\, HJ Greiner and Jean Sulem. \nAn active chamber musician\, he has performed with musicians like David Geringas\, Antje Weithaas\, Bruno Giuranna\, Rainer Honeck\, Salvatore Accardo\, Phillipe Grafin\, Rocco Fillipini and Peter Buck. He works with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra\, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra\, Quator Alter Ego\, Spira Mirabilis\, the Berliner Kammerorchester and Ensemble Reflektor. In February 2017 he took the 2nd prize and the Mozart prize at the Amsterdam Viola Competition. \nHis compositions and arrangements are performed in Japan\, Europe\, Australia and America and were recently featured on Ensemble Reflektor’s Album “Ad Astra”. \nWilliam has been invited to perform at music festivals throughout the world in Kuhmo\, Verbier\, Prussia Cove\, Chigiana and Otaru. His practice is also informed by his work with many of the worlds great violists – Kim Kashkashian\, Lawrence Power\, Yuri Bashmet\, Antoine Tamestit and Hariolf Schlichtig are just a few of the many artists he has been guided by. \nHe feels very fortunate to have access to play on a composite viola made by Antonio and Hieronymous Amati of Cremona in 1620.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ticket Prices and Concessions” tab_id=”1452941768731-94b426f3-57530201-342dcb0a-2ec9a177-581a2513-a5c51f1f-8993a3c4-5ca5cb85-3d54189f-4d6f8ba6-b9f1c3a7-b18d”][vc_column_text]\nTicket Prices:\nFull: $35\nConcession: $25\nGroups 8+: $25 \nConcessions:\nPensioners/Full-time students/MEAA members \nNO BOOKING FEE SURCHARGE[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_empty_space]Buy Tickets [/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
