A riveting adaptation of Janne Teller’s award-winning novel, now considered a modern classic.

When Pierre Anthon smugly declares there’s no meaning to life, he leaves his ninth-grade classroom, climbs a plum tree, and stays there. To prove to him that life is full of worth his classmates make a ‘pile of meaning’ and sacrifice things of great importance; Dungeons & Dragons books, a fishing rod, a pair of green sandals, a pet hamster…  Then, events start to take a morbid twist as each offering becomes more extreme. And what if, after all these sacrifices, the pile still isn’t meaningful enough to bring Pierre Anthon down?

The Australian premiere of this internationally acclaimed Danish novel is adapted by Fleur Murphy, directed by Alonso Pineda and stars a lively ensemble cast including Connor James, Rebecca Makar, Jessica Martin, Eddie Pattison and Laurence Young.  Traversing the innocence of youth and the wisdom adulthood, NOTHING is a delicious delve into existential angst, full of wry humour and engaging characters that highlight the weird and wonderful things we all find worth in.

‘Janne Teller has with NOTHING written a novel that is as haunting as it is brilliant.’ El Tiempo, Colombia
