Myra wishes that she were the Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova. If Myra had been Tereshkova, she would not have lived her life moving in marital paralysis, parenting her children and being the woman perennially behind the man. If Myra had been Tereshkova, her children would respect her and not dismiss her for being a feminist traitor and doormat. If Myra had been Tereshkova, she would have realised that little girl who showed the boys how things were done. Myra in Space tells the tragi-comic story of Myra Foreman, a woman who missed her life on earth and is now going to live it, in space.
