fortyfivedownstairs presents the ninth annual Emerging Artist Award 2024.

The Emerging Artist Award at fortyfivedownstairs is a proven catalyst for ongoing recognition and professional development and allows audiences the privilege of accessing early-career works by exciting emerging artists.

A $3,000 prize pool was awarded to two submissions that best aligned with the award criteria. The prize recipients were announced at opening night on Tuesday 16th July at 6:00pm. Special thanks to guest judge Lyndel Wischer.

The First Prize of $2,000 was awarded to Felix Oliver for his artwork Dripping Palms.

The Second Prize of $1,000 was awarded to Leila Frijat for her artwork Passing through and along. 

The People’s Choice Award was awarded to Down, With Me by Cam Summers.

Special mentions: Dani Watson, Jonabelle Cogan, Kat Rae, Martin Claydon, Nadine Schmoll and Tashi Columbro.

As well, the People’s Choice Award will give audiences the chance to vote for their favourite work. The winner is the recipient of a prize pack of artist supplies that has been kindly sponsored by Jasco.

The finalists’ works will be shown in the fortyfivedownstairs gallery from 16th to 26th July 2024.
